You're right about banning. Sort of. Unfortunately, there are still books being banned in America on a small scale. We are trying to focus on Intellectual Freedom and the right to read any materials one wishes. Although books are not, as you mention, banned on a grand scale by our government or from bookstores, books are still being banned from individual libraries on a regular basis. For more information on this, refer here : http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=14982752&ps=rs. In the meantime, it is the hope of librarians across America, ourselves included, that students retain their right to read freely. We hope you will join us in this task. Thanks for your comment.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

This book was ahhmazing!!! Just like Harry Potter and Cirque du Freak combined! It has everything from witches, faeries, vampires, werewolves, demons, angels and fighters of evil in it. The main character, Clary, believes her life is normal until her mother is suddenly kidnapped by the evil betrayer,Valentine. It has shocking twists and an amazing end. I couldn't put the book down. More than two of my friends asked me if I was a speed-reader. I am, by the way! lol. Anyways, I really enjoyed this book with it's action packed pages and just enough romance to make the book young adult material. Man, I highly highly! RECOMMEND THIS Book!

light before day by christopher rice

okay if u've ever read anne rice, you'll absolutly love this one by her son! it's about a young mysterious boy who has a mission to seduce his teacher in college. yes, it has homosexuals in it but that's not the point. it's an amazing adventure about betrayal, dangerous cults, and struggling through college and making it out alive. i absolutely loved this book. However, we do not have it at wc, for it is adult. but it's a really good book and u can tell that christopher got his mother's talent for writing.

Circus of the Darned by Katie Maxwell

This reminded me of cirque du freak sorta. The main character, Fran, is touring with a gothfair because her mom wanted to. She meets a really hot vampire{Dark One} and he tells her she's his beloved in the first book. But in this second one, she encounters a evil god who steals her horse and she summons some annoying vikings who keep calling her "Goddess". It's a really funny book with the war and all the time she still can't make it to her first date. All in all, it's a very wonderful and creative read.

The Freak review:

Yes, the Freak by Darren Shan was great and very adicting. But now i have started reading the Demonata series. So far all i have to say is wow!!! Shan has done it again. Another gripping book that i can't put down. The first book starts kinda slow with the main character, Grubbs in trouble. But finally the story starts picking up and before you know it your hooked. The story is very gruesome and has a lot of people dying in it. (it's just like a great horror movie) I have now read up to the 3rd book. I needed to slow down, the library only has the first 4. But all in all i am suggesting this book to everyone who likes horror things.

Demon review by Darren shan.

So yeah I saw the freak review and I thought I would cover the demon stuff. Yeah I would say these are better than the freak but I didn't get addicted like that. The demon is great and gory! Very gory and disgusting and yummy! Its really good like watching a really disgusting and great horror movie! If say if they made a movie it would be more hard core than saw. Really these are good for inspiration!

The Freak Review:

I love books that deal with horror type things. Such as vampires, werewolves and things like that. So I started to read the Cirque Du Freak books by Darren Shan. I loved the books and could not put them down till the series was over. The series is 12 books long. They are an exciting thrill ride. It shows you how he had grown as an author. The main character, Darren Shan, is a teenage boy who gives up his normal life to save his best friend Steve. The series ends in the 12th book with two parts. I loved how the first part ends, but the second part just seems to be out there. Though it makes sense, I just didn't like it. The books are fast paced and keep you wanting more and more. If you end up reading the books and you like them, Hollywood is making a movie.
